Ordu — Basque aerodynamics on two wheels

I love bicycles, I own a few and have owned many. Once I lose weight I will be able to again ride this one I purchased in 2006 — made by the Basque country firm in Spain called Orbea, it is their Ordu model. Ordu means “time” in the Basque language and this bike is all about time, getting through a time trial course in the least amount of time.

What about the aerodynamics? It is all in the high tech frame and wheels. The frame

Guest Post  By Topher Donahue, Sponsored by CMH Summer Adventures

Thinking about an adventure vacation with your teens and extended family? CMH Summer Adventures offers a wide range of hiking and outdoor adventure vacations.  The following discussion with recent participants shows adventurous holidays can be fun for family members ages 2 to 90.

Last summer,  a family of 12 from Toronto, representing four generations, gathered to share a Heli-Hiking trip with CMH Summer Adventures, in the Bugaboo Mountains on the British Columbia/ Alberta boarder in Western Canada.  The youngest, Cooper, was not quite two years old, and the oldest, Helen, was 90 years old.  Afterwards, I tracked down three women from the family to find out how the trip went for everyone. Skiing plus biathlon and huskies in the French Alps

Ben Rankin behind the rifle

Throw some cross country skiing into the mix and youve got a sport thats high on adrenaline.

In competition, youd be expected to ski for 20km and shoot five times at a target 50m away.

But as a beginner and someone who has never strapped on a pair of cross country skis before, we were asked to do a fraction of the distance and shoot from 10m.

As someone more used to a snowboard, it was still relatively easy to get used to the new skis just dont ask me to stay upright on a downhill bit.

My two-hour introduction at the Bessans international stadium in the Haute Maurienne Valley, a couple of hours from Lyon and Grenoble airports, was great fun.

But afterwards, jumping back on the snowboard to try out the areas 150km of runs felt like a nice change.

And the fun didnt stop there a chairlift and a short walk away from Val Cenis you can try dog sledding.

Theyre a noisy bunch, but good natured and keen to stretch their legs as I was to find out.

Each of us was given a sled with four huskies, all absolutely champing at the bit.

Although this is a travel blog, we also like to write about the holidays in general, and we cant ignore Halloween! It’s that time of year again, when goblins and ghosts take to the streets and demand treats from the neighborhoods. Some people take Halloween very seriously, and their house will look amazing, but may totally skimp on the treats. If you’re not sure what to give away this year, here are some suggestions that might make you the most popular house on the block.

  • Candy (Obviously) There are a million different ways to go about this. If you’re going to do candy, you don’t really need a go big or go home attitude. There’s
