Allomes confirms plan to step down
Travellers Choice managing director Gary Allomes has confirmed he will step down from the role this year.
The move has been widely expected ever since Allomes revealed at the agency’s conference last November that that it had to “think carefully about succession planning”.
Allomes had stepped back from the day to day operations earlier last year and elevated Christian Hunter to the role of general manager in a sign that his replacement was already being lined up.
Hunter, popular with the Travellers Choice membership, is favourite to be handed the managing director’s role, although his promotion is not regarded as a formality.
Allomes declined to comment on the future management structure or whether he would retain some role with the network but did confirm that he will step down this year after more than 14 years as MD.
Further details will be unveiled to agents during a series of meeting in the first week of July.
Allomes’s swansong is likely to be at the Travellers Choice’s annual conference to be held in Singapore at the end of October.
